Ha! I remember clearly the first time I did my girls’ nails. Pale pink. Of course they are 9 and 12 now and all about the purple and the blue and the stripes of hot pink but I still draw the line at black or red. My mother used to tell us “Hookers wear red.” That actually stayed with me until I was well into my teen years and look, it’s back for my kids. Aaaah traditions.
She is a beautiful girl! Looks like you two had fun!
Such a beautiful girly-girl!!! I remember when I got my ears pierced – I only did it because a friend wanted to do hers but didn’t want to go alone. She offered to pay for mine so I said, “Sure, why not?” Mine took, hers didn’t and grew back together! I remember my mom saying, “Only a certain kind of girl pierces her ears.” (hint: not a nice girl!) She was very upset. I was in college so “whatever”! YOU have a much better tradition going on there, filled with love and support. LOVE how you captured this moment in time!!!
Yuliya,
Was searching for a GF’s blog and came across your. Started reading to your post about your little girl having her manicure and nails painted. How cute is that? Like the OP said, mom, its time for her to have pierced ears. All little girls want them and to be like mommy.
Since your’re thinking about it, then your mommy intuition is telling now is the time to have the pierced. I had a similar dilemma with my 3 yr old too since she was so girlie-girl.
I asked our ped who gave me some suggestions for moms having their little girls done which included some OTC meds to minimize and discomfort, type of earrings and how to find the right person/place to have them done. She said it was best whenever mommy could care for them.
If your dd is into bling and you’re unsure if she’d look cue, then hold a pair of your studs up to her ears to see how she’d look. Warning: she’ll look adorable
I think it celebrates their femaleness and femininity.
If you or any other moms would like our ped’s tips, then write me an e-mail.
