Saturday Surf and Turf

Summer salad edition.

Make it today before the tomatoes start to taste like rubber again.

What’s in this bad boy? Mixed greens, sliced pear, cherry tomatoes, and blue cheese. Dressed with olive oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice.

Surfin’ on the internet was majorly curbed while I got ready to go to BlogHer, so these are from the last few weeks, which in internet time means they happened last year. I like to stay current like that.

Summer is coming to an end, but I bet that doesn’t have the same significance for me as it does for those of you with school aged children. If you are still experiencing Summer Vacation Stockholm Syndrome, it’s time to snap out of it and put on your mom jeans…you have carpool next week.

The antitode to blogs are bad for women.

I met the Bloggess at BlogHer (I know, I know SHUT UP about BlogHer already) and while I would have loved to just stand around and pick her brain there was a line of people waiting to do the same. So I told her two things: I LOVED her speech at the Evo Conference about choosing to be furiously happy and that my android husband actually laughs out loud at her posts…one day I hope for the same kind of reaction from him.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Most likely I’m jealous that it’s better decorated than my actual house. Sigh. I better remedy that by playing on Pinterest and taking “what’s my decorating style” quizzes.

It’s been an odd couple of days, let’s just say I really needed to read this again to remind me that “Your attention and focus is your water. And your life is your garden. What you water, grows.”  I wonder if Crunchy Betty wants to be my life coach or guru or something…

And now for some current happenings.

Russian Dolls!!! A “reality” show that focuses on the lives of Russian Americans living in Brighton Beach. I do not have cable to watch it as it airs, but luckily Vicky Boykis liveblogged her thoughts while she watched.

After this show I was questioning my identity as a Russian American and now I know why. As Russian as I might be the problem is with my husband who upon closer examination does not appear to be a Russian man after all….

Finally a scientific explanation for why my kid hates the car seat so much!

Happy weekend everyone!

Amazing links – that one about blogs being bad for women? How cynical she was. Poor baby, so superior. As usual, you challenge, teach, share, encourage, entertain, and feed me, all in one blog!!

  6. That salad looks delish. DELISH, I say!

I’m watching The Blogess’ video right now. I’ve never really been able to get into her, but this video may change that. Thank you for posting it. :)

  7. 1. It was awesome to meet you!

    2. I am in love with that dollhouse.
